Two roots - New West

Image
My 2nd beer from two roots this time an IPA combining new England and West Coast styles with bold juicy hops used to create a crisp finish with a hint of bitterness.  Like the straight drank this pours with a good thick head, although not quite as thick as straight drank. The aroma is lots of tropical fruits getting pineapple and a bit of grapefruit.  The taste is very fruity, I get apricot and some citrus fruits.  Decent mouth feel to this as well.   Once again a great beer that I can see becoming a regular in the fridge for me.   These guys certainly do great IPAs. This is currently only available from dry drinker in the UK

Tiny Rebel - Clwb Tropica vs Clwb Tropica NA

Image
In the past when I drank regularly the Clwb Tropica used to be one of my go to drinks. So a little test to see how Clwb Tropica Non Alc Compares with its 5.5%ABV Cousin and have my opinions changed. The first thing I noticed was the head on the pour the 5.5% version had a much thicker head that stayed around much longer.  The NA version had hardly any head too it.   Looking at the 2 drinks side by side the 5.5% is a cloudier beer.  The 0.5% version has much less of a haze too it and is quite clear colour in comparison. The 5.5% has a very fruity aroma too it with lovely tropical fruit smells coming across the mango is very noticeable.  The non alcoholic version isn't quite as strong smelling but you still get a nice tropical aroma from it. I tried the non alcoholic version first in tasting and it comes across with nice tropical flavours definitely a bit of pineapple and a slight bitter finish but very smooth. Now the alcoholic version this had a tropical taste but I really noticed

Lowtide - Dipa Toe in

Image
This is my 2nd beer from Lowtide who are a new alcohol free brewery on the scene it started out as crafty af in 2019.  Crafty af was a website who's aim was to source all the best alcohol free beers they could find and make them available for others to buy.  But while running this site they decided they wanted more more, they didn't want to just sell other people beers but instead they wanted to brew thier own,  So Lowtide was born with the aim to bring true craft beer to the world of alcohol free. DIPA toes in as the name suggest tries to replicate the flavours of a DIPA.  It uses Ale Yeast which is unusual in the alcohol free world.  It combines mango and passionfruit to give a Sweet flavour. Brewery:        Lowtide Brewing Co                 Beer:      DIPA TOE IN Style:               DIPA                           Hops:              Idahop 7 ,Mozart & Moutere Country:        England         Other:            Vegan, uses Ale Yeast         AF Beer Explorers Thoughts

Nirvana Brewery - Classic IPA AF beer 133

Image
This is a new one from Nirvana for me the classic IPA. It pours a lovely golden colour and is very carbonated with a good stream of bubbles rising up through the glass.  Smells Tropical definitely hints of pineapple. The taste is very hoppy but leaves an artificial bitterness behind which seems to be a thing with a lot of the Non Alcoholic IPAs. 6/10 I shall hopefully be reviewing this again on 16th when I take part in the Nirvana virtual tastings .  Will be interesting to see if my opinion on this and the 5 other Nirvana beers changes when taking advice from a professional on how they should be tasted. Beavertown Lazer Crush

This has lovely tropical smell to it.   The taste is tropical and very smooth.   It's very much along the lines of coast IPA.  I belive they are both brewed by De Proufbrouwerij in Belgium. Post by Tim Jenkins

First Chop - Yes IPA AF Beer 132

Image
This Pours with a nice hazy IPA look.  The pour is very carbonated but soon settles down. Smells very much of tropical fruits. The taste starts tropical but then hits with quite a bit of bitterness which leaves a bit of strange aftertaste. 6/10 Post by Tim Jenkins
