Guinness 0.0 Draught vs Big Drop Good Things Irish Stout

Image
When Guinness had to recall their stout back at the end of 2020 Big Drop came out with an Irish stout of their own Good things .  At the time I said this was a very good stout and up there with the best alcohol free Stouts but how does it compare to the relaunched Guinness 0.0 . See my original Good things Review First off this is just a bit of fun.  I obviously can't get a new can of the Good things stout as it is no longer made and the one I am using to is very close to its Best before so may no longer be the stout it originally was. The Pour. Due to the nitro the Guinness pours with a Lovely surge effect and forms a lovely creamy looking head.   The Good things pours quite flat looking with a small head that disappears  very quickly.  Using my surge plate I could replicate the head although even then it dispersed quickly. Winner: Guinness 0.0 Aroma The Guinness has a nice roasted aroma with slight coffee notes. The Aroma on the Good things has a much Rougher Aroma to it there

LowTide Brewing - Who let the Bees Stout

Lowtide is a new alcohol free brewery on the scene it started out as crafty af in 2019.  Crafty af was a website who's aim was to source all the best alcohol free beers they could find and make them available for others to buy.  But while running this site they decided they wanted more more, they didn't want to just sell other people beers but instead they wanted to brew thier own,  So Lowtide was born with the aim to bring true craft beer to the world of alcohol free. For who let the bees Stout they teamed up with C84 brew co from yorkshire. To create a stout combining  the sweetness from both the honeycomb and chocolate with the thick mouthfeel of a traditional stout. Hamerton AF Peanut Butter Milk Stout

Now I'm not really a fan of peanut butter but always willing to try any beer once.   This pours with quite a large head but it disappears very quickly.  Now the smell of this is very interesting it actually smells a lot like Butter popcorn.   The taste as well is very popcorn like Buttery with a nutty finish.   Its a very pleasant tasting beer and certainly a unique taste as far as alcohol free goes.   6/10 AFBeer 128

Do Good Things Really come to those who wait???

Image
One of the biggest subjects in the Alcohol free Beer World this year has to be Guiness 0.0 launch in October and it's subsequent recall 2 weeks later.  This was one Beer everyone in the alcohol free world was trying to get and from those (un)lucky enough to get hold of it had Good things to say about it.  Personally I didn't get to try it and thought I'd missed my chance to try a Traditional Irish Stout but alcohol free.  That was until now and the launch of Big Drops Good Things Irish Stout.  Now this beer probably would never have come about had it not been for a certain little Microbiological Contamination but that aside its here.  Straight away you can see from the Can that this is a dig at the Big boys. It starts with the beers name itself Good things.  Now I'm sure we have heard many times before from a certain Irish stout maker how Good things Come to those who wait.  Then there's the text on the Can itself has many references to the Big Boys of the Irish st
