Do Good Things Really come to those who wait???

One of the biggest subjects in the Alcohol free Beer World this year has to be Guiness 0.0 launch in October and it's subsequent recall 2 weeks later.  This was one Beer everyone in the alcohol free world was trying to get and from those (un)lucky enough to get hold of it had Good things to say about it.  Personally I didn't get to try it and thought I'd missed my chance to try a Traditional Irish Stout but alcohol free.  That was until now and the launch of Big Drops Good Things Irish Stout.  Now this beer probably would never have come about had it not been for a certain little Microbiological Contamination but that aside its here.  Straight away you can see from the Can that this is a dig at the Big boys.

It starts with the beers name itself Good things.  Now I'm sure we have heard many times before from a certain Irish stout maker how Good things Come to those who wait.  Then there's the text on the Can itself has many references to the Big Boys of the Irish stout world

"Good things do come to those who wait. But when Tick follows tock follows tick follows tock, we though hang on, toucan play that game. And whilst we won't harp on about it, it was a bit like pushing an open gate"

Anyway enough about the can lets get down to the important bit the beer itself.

Well the beer poured with a very small light brown head not like the nice big creamy head that you are used to on an Irish Stout.

On the nose you get a hit of chocolate.  The taste well it has a lot more body to it than a lot of Alcohol free stouts.  Very strong roasted coffee notes to it.  This is certainly a good effort at a stout and up there with some of the other great alcohol free stouts like big drops own Milk stout, Drop Bears Bonfire Stout and Mikellers Beer Geek Flat white to name a few.

Now the big question how do I think it compares to a pint of Guinness.  Now this reminds me more of the Guinness Foreign Extra you could get in bottles more of a traditional stout than the smoother Guinness Draft.

I'm going to keep a can of this back in the hope of Guinness relaunching their alcohol free offering in the New Year so can do a taste test with the 2 and possibly a couple of extra stouts as well.

So overall I would say this is a very nice Alcohol free Stout.  Nice bit of body too it and a good roasted flavour.

7/10
