Big Drop World Colab Series 2

After the success of their 1st Colab series Big Drop have now released their second collaboration series.  This time they have teamed up with 4 Nordic Breweries.  Each of the 4 beers in this series are no more than 0.5% ABV and are Gluten free.

Having tried all 4 beers this is a great example of what can be done with different styles in the Alcohol free world.  All 4 beers have unique tastes and are great examples of their styles.

I enjoyed all 4 beers especially the Coconut Stout.  If you like trying different beers I would highly recommend getting a pack.

The 4 Breweries they have teamed up with are

Einstök Ölgerð who are Icelands Number 1 brewery and are located just 60 miles south of the Artic Circle in the fishing port of Akureyri, Iceland.  They bring us the Artic Beach Coconut Stout
.

Amundsen Bryggeri is an Norweigen Brewery based in Oslo-focuse on producing craft beers of the highest quality for the non-conformists out there.  They bring us the Rush Rider Pastry Sour.

Fat Lizard - located in Otaniemi Finland, in the very heart of Espoo. As the first commercial brewery ever in Espoo, the company was founded by four fellows – HessuTopoTopi and Eero – in 2014 and has been operative since February 2015.  They bring us the Rye'd Said Fred (Great Name) - Juniper IPA

And Finally Hop Notch Brewing
Craft brewery in the heart of Stockholm Sweden with the Fladerlatt a Elderflower IPA.

Artic Beach - Coconut Stout.

From the Can
A full Bodied, velvety treat.  A blend of the creamy richness of dark chocolate, alongside the goodness of fresh light-toasted Coconut.  A burst of roasted malts and subtle coconut flavour will transport your palate to a beachy paradise, whilst your snuggled on the sofa.

My thoughts
Pours a very black pint.  With a nice head but this soon disappears. On the Nose you get Chocolate and Coconut smells coming through strongly.  The taste is a nice roasted stout taste with the coconut flavour as you swallow.  I could see this being the perfect drink to have as the sun starts to set over a nice tropical beach.

Rye Said Fred - Juniper  Rye IPA

From the Can

A complex blend of flavours, most notably spiciness from the rye heavy mash.  Subtle nutty herbal tones, intertwining with assertive, forward botanical notes of juniper.  A rich toasty Goodness, followed up with a fresh aromatic flourish and a bitter finish.

My thoughts

Pours with a light brown colour similar to a traditional real ale.  On the nose I'm not really getting much its got a very subtle aroma to it hard to pick out anything apart from a slight smell of hops.  The taste is very much of a traditional bitter with slightly spicy undertones.  But it's very much hidden away and doesn't jump out at you.  I'm wondering if this would have been better warmer.

Rush Rider Pastry Sour

From the Can

An elegant Bouquet of vibrant deep raspberry candy with a sour twist.  A delicate nose moves to deliver a gentle refreshing sharp bite, before exploding with  an intense profile of fresh vanilla, fresh berries and peach pie.  A naughty Treat in a can.

My Thoughts

This Pours very clear with an orangey tinge to it.  It has a bit of a strange aroma to it sort of like sour raspberry's.   The taste takes a bit of getting used to but there is definitely a raspberry taste to it followed by what I would describe as Fresh baked pie.  It leaves a bit of a dry sour feeling in the mouth.  Sours arn't normally a style I would try but I found this to be quite a unique flavour and tasty.  Just not sure I would chose it over other styles that I prefer.

6/10

Fläderlätt Elderflower IPA

From the can

Refreshment Delivered.  This well rounded Elderflower IPA delivers on both the nose and palate.  Use of an Experimental UK Hop 'Mozart' generates a unique flavour profile with hints of bitter grapefruit, clean citrus drawn together by a fresh fruity elderflower twist.

My Thoughts

Pours with a nice golden colour.  On the nose you get a nice fruity flowery Aroma.  The taste is quite interesting starts off with bitterness from citrus flavours.  Then a fruity floral taste comes through from the elderflower.  This then fades leaving behind a slight bitterness.  This one actually surprised me as I wasn't expecting to like it and probably would never had bought it if not in the multipack

7/10

  1. Really looking forward to trying all of these. I've still not opened mine yet, had others to try. They are the only beers I've got in that I've not tried now, do it won't be long!

    Nice write up Tim
