Coast Beer Co Discovery Mixed Case
I’ve treated myself to a discovery mixed case from CoastBeer Co. I was lucky enough to pick this up when they were running 25% off, but if you’ve missed out on that they currently [at the time of writing] have 15% off on their website if you use the code ‘15OFF’ – and if you miss that too you can sign up to their ‘community’ and you’ll get 15% off your first order.
A little bit about Coast Beer Co.
Coast Beer Co. started in 2019. Like many breweries who are
breaking out to specialise in alcohol free beers, they are relatively new. However,
that doesn’t mean they are lagging behind. Their website tells us that they are
“on a mission to shake up the tasteless, mass-produced alcohol free beer of
the past”, and from what I’ve experienced they are doing a fine job at it. They
started with just two beers and have quickly expanded that range. Each time
they have kept true to their mission, after all “it’s about taste, quality
and creativity”. You will notice that all of their beers have a distinct
eye icon logo. They believe this symbolises being wide eyed, full awakened – present
– sober. For me, they are opening my eyes to what alcohol free beer should
really be like.
2020 has been a challenging year for most, but you wouldn’t
imagine that Coast Beer Co have found it so. Only a month into a global
pandemic and national lockdown and they released their 3rd beer. It
was to mark their first anniversary, but happened to coincide with Earth Day.
They joined up with Extinction Rebellion to create Hoppy Pale Ale 0.0%.
All profits from sales were donated to Extinction Rebellion and to help “avert
climate and ecological collapse and build a just, liveable world for all”.
As if that wasn’t enough during the last 8 months… in released
a further two beers in June (IPA and DDH IPA) and then their single hop series
in August (Idaho7 IPA, Sabro IPA and Centennial IPA). All of their beers are
vegan friendly and they are pushing the limits of well-rounded hoppy alcohol
free beers that are full of flavour.
Discovery mixed case
Let’s talk through the box then. The discovery mixed case is
available as either 12 or 24 cans. Both options contain 6 different beers; Idaho
7 IPA, Sabro IPA, Centennial IPA [their single hop series], IPA, DDH IPA and
Sabro Galaxy DDH IPA. They are all 0.0%, vegan friendly and dry hopped –
although two of them are double dry hopped… can you guess which ones?
Idaho 7 IPA
Sabro IPA
Another of the single hop series. Sabro is the newest aroma
hop to be released from the Hop Breeding Co. Full of flavour, getting tropical
flavours like pineapple coming through. It wasn’t as hoppy as I was expecting,
but for me hops can be over-done – so was a plus for me. 4 out of 5 and a taste
for ripping open the others.
Centennial IPA
IPA
Brewed with pilsner and pale all malts to produce a very
refreshing session IPA. You get that hit of floral hops with the balance of
malts. It’s very smooth with a citrus edge to keep you wanting more. 4 out of
5.
DDH IPA
Sabro Galaxy DDH IPA
Another double dry-hopped brew, but this one uses Sabro and
Galaxy hops as well as pilsner, pale ale and flaked wheat malts. Floral notes
and flavours coming from the hops. Lots of hops making their way through, but
in a delicate way. There’s a bitterness that gradually gets stronger after a smooth
fruity start. Another winner. 4.25 out of 5.
Overall, I have been very impressed with this discovery
mixed case. What Coast Beer Co have achieved in under two years is phenomenal
stuff. They should be really proud of their beers, and if you are lucky enough
to spot any of these in a pub then you know you are on to a winner. Unfortunately
for now, we’re stuck at home but if you can’t take yourself to the pub then
bring the pub to you. This selection gives you 6 fantastic zero alcohol beers,
and if you are feeling really flush you can go for the 24 case to make sure you
really make the most of the latest lockdown.

Thanks for your review. Coast are an excellent brewer. I enjoy all of their beers if I had to pick a favourite it would probably be the Sabro from their single hop series.
