Drop Bear Beer Company

For anyone who doesn't know Drop Bear Beer are a brewery from Swansea in South Wales who specialise in alcohol free beers.  Their range consists of 4 Beers which I'll go into a little more in this blog post.  They are currently available in 6 global markets and have sold over 160,000 Bottles since their Launch in 2019.    All of their beers are Gluten free and Suitable for Vegans

They are also currently looking to build a brewery in the UK which will be only the 2nd one in the UK that is dedicated to Alcohol free Brewing.  If you are interested in investing take a look here.

The Pub in a Box

Drop Bear are currently selling a pub in a box for £35.  This consists of merchandise, 4 Packets of Gourmet popcorn from The British Popcorn Company, and 12 of their Beers.  You can choose from the Bonfire Stout, Tropical IPA, Yuzu Pale Ale, New World Larger or a mixed pack.  The one I have is the mixed pack which consists of 3 of each of their 4 beers.

The Merchadise.

The merchandise in this box consists of 

A Bar runner - To place on your kitchen counter, up on a wall or best of all if you are lucky enough to have one in your own Bar.

4 Beer Mats - 1 for each of their Beers

A Drop Bear beer Blade - To open all your tasty Drop Bear Beers in Style. 

A Drop Bear Glass - And last but not least a drop bear glass because who wouldn't want to drink their favourite drop bear from a glass with a crazy koala on.  The glass is 2/3rds of a pint.  Which is just the right size for the 330ml bottles.

The Snacks

The Box comes with 4 packs of Gourmet Popcorn in the following flavours

• Sea Salt
• Sour Cream and Black pepper
• Sweet & salty
• Caramel & espresso.

I'm really looking forward to trying these alongside the beers the Caramel & espresso Sound ideal to go along with the Bonfire Stout.

The pub Quiz

I am yet to try this yet but when you order the box you get sent a link to a pub quiz that is hosted by the drop bear team.  This could be fun to do as a lockdown activity virtually or with your family.  They also email you the answers but no Cheating.

The Beers

Now we are onto the important bit The beers that come with the box.  When you order the box you can choose whether you want the Box to consist of 12 of the same beer or like I have gone for here 3 Bottles of each of their 4 Beers (Bonfire Stout, Tropical IPA, Yuzu Pale Ale & New World lager) So whether you already have a favourite or want to try the entire range there is something for everyone.

The 4 beers are as follows

YUZU PALE ALE

Drop Bear describe it as:

Easy drinking for the fierce, this alcohol free pale ale has a lot to shout about. Dry hopped with refreshing floral and grapefruit hops, a splash of yuzu bursts through the toffee base to create a unique and sessionable non alcoholic beer. This non alcoholic pale ale is Vegan and Gluten Free.

When I tried this beer I found it quite Hoppy but left an odd aftertaste I gave it 2.5 out of 5

Tropical IPA

Looking for an award winning alcohol free IPA with real bite? Step into our office...

An abundance of tropical hops bursts through the roasted coffee and dark chocolate base of this alcohol free beer with blasts of passion fruit, stone fruit, and citrus. Perfect for the traditional bitter drinker, this alcohol free beer certainly packs the punch of a full strength IPA. This alcohol free beer is vegan and Gluten Free.

When I tried this beer I thought It had nice tropical flavours but again left a bit of a artificial bitter aftertaste I gave this                                                beer 3 out of 5

New World Lager

This is the newest Beer to the drop bear family.

An abundance of tropical hops bursts through the roasted coffee and dark chocolate base of this alcohol free beer with blasts of passion fruit, stone fruit, and citrus. Perfect for the traditional bitter drinker, this alcohol free beer certainly packs the punch of a full strength IPA. This alcohol free beer is vegan and Gluten Free.

When I tried this beer I thought that there was a strong biscuit taste coming through and it was quite creamy. Although left a bitter aftertaste

I gave this 3.5 out of 5

Bonfire Stout

And last but not least their bonfire stout for me this is the favourite of the bunch and up there as one of the best alcohol free stouts I have tried.

Drop Bear describe it as:

This alcohol free stout is all about those specialty malts.

Complex notes of roasted coffee and smoked malt awaken the senses whilst hints of dark chocolate burst through to create a carefully crafted balance of flavours. Inspired by the traditional Irish stout and German Rauchbier, this dark alcohol free ale provides a refreshing and smooth finish. This alcohol free stout is Vegan and Gluten Free.

I will admit that when I first tried this I was unsure it came across with a burnt caramel taste and a little over carbonated.  I have now had a few of these and for me now I get a lovely roasted chocolate flavour and give this 4 out of 5.
