Low Tide Brewing - Mixed Pack of 4 [Who let the Bees Stout?, Dipa Toe in, Brune-DMC, A pale of two Cities]

Lowtide is a new alcohol free brewery on the scene it started out as crafty af in 2019.  Crafty af was a website who's aim was to source all the best alcohol free beers they could find and make them available for others to buy.  But while running this site they decided they wanted more more, they didn't want to just sell other people beers but instead they wanted to brew their own,  So Lowtide was born with the aim to bring true craft beer to the world of alcohol free.

The 4 beers that LowTide has entered the market with are

Who Let the Bees Stout?

For who let the bees Stout they teamed up with C84 brew co from yorkshire. To create a stout combining
the sweetness from both the honeycomb and chocolate with the thick mouthfeel of a traditional stout.

Style:            Stout

Hops:           Columbus, Goldings

Other:           Vegan

AF Beer Explorers Thoughts

The pour:  This pours with a very black colour as you'd expect from a stout.  There wasn't much of a head.

Nose:  This smells lovely you get strong caramel and chocolate aromas.  Makes me think of crunchy Chocolate bars.

Taste:  This tastes of honey and smooth dark chocolate has a nice thick consistency mouth feel to it which surprised me as usually to get this in an AF stout they add Lactose this has none.  It goes down smoothly with a nice chocolate finish.

Overall this is a really enjoyable af stout.  It reminds me of some of the imperial stouts I have tried in the past but obviously without the alcohol. Great mouthfeel and flavour combination.  This is definitely going on the reorder list.    This takes AF stouts to a whole new level.

DIPA Toe in

DIPA toes in as the name suggest tries to replicate the flavours of a DIPA.  It uses Ale Yeast which is unusual in the alcohol free world.  It combines mango and passionfruit to give a Sweet flavour.

Style:            DIPA

Hops:           Idahop 7 ,Mozart & Moutere

Other:           Vegan, uses Ale Yeast

AF Beer Explorers Thoughts

The pour:  This pours with a Nice dark amber colour with a small head.

Nose:  I was quite surprised with this as was expecting stronger aromas.  There is a slight Tropical aroma but not much

Taste:  This starts with bitterness and then you get some tropical tastes coming through Mango and pineapple.   It's not as hoppy as I would expect from a DIPA (even if only in name).

Overall this is a an enjoyable beer that has just the right amount of bitterness Interestingly the bitterness is the first flavour usually with alcohol free I tend to find they leave the bitterness behind where as This seems opposite bitterness to begin then balanced out by the sweet tropical flavours.

Brune-DMC

Brunce-DMC is lowtides take on a traditional belgium Abbey Beer.  A dark and Aromatic ale reminiscent of European Hijinx and times past.  The can even comes with a QR code you can scan to open its very own spotify List.

Style:            Brune

Hops:           Saaz, Goldings

Other:           Vegan

This pours with a lovely redish brown colour.  When held up to the light it is very clear.

This is described as having a very sweet, fruity aroma.  But to me It actually smelt quite unpleasant and vinegary.  In fact it smelt like a bad pint.

The good news is the Vinegar doesn't come across in the taste.  A lovely smooth mouth feel combines with a smooth malty taste and a slight fruity finish that is typical of a red ale.
This beer reminds me of sitting in a pub with a traditional ale and the log fire burning.
This is one of these Beers where one isn't enough Luckily for me I ordered a few spares.

A Pale of two Cities

The Final beer on offer from lowtide is a pale of two cities a collaboration with electric bear brewing company.
They have created a Hazy pale ale that is teeming with Hops and Flavour.

Style:            Hazy Pale Ale

Hops:           ?

Other:           Vegan

This Pours with a hazy straw colour almost looks like pineapple juice.  Has a strong tropical aroma to it I pick out pineapple and grapefruit.
For me grapefruit Comes through in the flavour and leaves a lingering bitterness.  There are a lot of good  alcohol free Pales on the market and this one stands up well against them very refreshing and the bitterness level is just right for my liking.

Overall

Lowtide have come to the market with some very good examples of what can me done in the alcohol free range.  You can see they have clearly researched the market.  They have 4 very good beers that not only would stand up against other alcohol free beers but also full strength beers too.
For me 2 really stood out the Brune-dmc and Who let the bees Stout?.  Both of these I can see will become regulars for me and I would love to one day try the on tap.

These beers can be purchased direct from Lowtide or from all good alcohol free retailers.
