Guest blog.

I have recently been asked to do a guest blog post for the yada collective  who are a group of like minded originals who have got together to open an alcohol free bar in Derby. They have a vision to expand this to other cities across the UK with the hope of creating a place you can go and socialise just like a pub but without the alcohol. My blog entry on my alcohol free journey can be viewed  Here Tim Jenkins

Fruh Kolsch AlkoholFrei

Image
Fruh  Kölsch  is an alcohol free German Pilsner.  This beer is 0.0% .  It is brewed in Cologne and in fact the name Kolsch is protected by law and only beers brewed in the city can be given the name. This beer is brewed to it's noprmal strength and then has the alcohol removed so keeps much of the flavour of its 4.8% cousin. Brewery: Fruh                   Beer: Kolsch 0.0 Style:  Kölsch                                            Country: Germany A  Kölsch Beer is a beer brewed in the City of Cologne and is rarely seen outside the city The beer is Top-fermented and more like an ale than a traditional Pilsner.  The  Kölsch is best drunk from tap and it is said that when it is bottled and pasteurised  a lot of the original flavour can be los t. AF Beer Explorers Thoughts This beer pours incredibly clear with a light yellow colour.  There is a very malty sort of hop smell to it.  Im not a big fan of pilsners but as they go this one is pretty decent.  It has a good malty flavour too it

Toast Ale - Lemongrass Lager

Image
Toast is a brewery with a mission. "A beer with more taste. A world without waste.". They have been taking surplus bread and using that to replace virgin barley in the brewing process. This means they use less land, water and energy, as well as avoiding carbon emissions. At the time of writing that have saved over 2 million slices of bread, 42 tonnes of CO2 emissions, 252,043 litres of water and reclaimed 171,848 square metres of land. Not only are they doing all of this, but all of their profits go to charity. They have 4 beers in their range and have added to this with 4 collaborations over last year. We're taking a look at their low alcohol Lemongrass Lager.  Brewery: Toast Ale Beer: Lemongrass Lager Style: Lager Country: UK Other: Vegan friendly @HoppyAF 's thoughts First things first.
